長崎ザボンゼリー

長崎ザボンは江戸時代中期、ジャワから清国の貿易船により長崎にもたらされました。 苗木は市内の西山神社境内に根付き、今も三代目が見事に大ぶりの実を実らせています。 その種子は九州全域に広がり、島原半島や鹿児島でも盛んに栽培されました。 当店の長崎ザボンは、長崎ザボン振興会の会員が心を込めて育てたもので、その独特の風味とサッパリとした食感、爽やかな苦味がお口に広がり、古くから歌われる”長崎のザボン売り”の音色とともに人々の郷愁を誘います。


Nagasaki Pomelo Jelly Qing Dynasty trade ships brought the pomelo to Nagaski in the the 17th century. That seedling was planted at the Nishiyama Shrine, where now for three generations priests have cared for the tree and its juicy pomeloes. The seeds of this single tree eventually made their way all across Kyushu, universally loved and especially thriving on the Shimabara Peninsula and Kagoshima. With their unique fragrance, refreshingly crisp texture and slight bitterness, each of our pomeloes makes it easy to see why Nagasaki pomeloes have made such an impression on the Japanese people.
